Northern Kentucky Water District is Hiring an Inventory Specialist Near Erlanger, KY
- Focuses on best value for the District by performing sourcing activities for departments by processing requisitions, obtaining written and verbal quotes, interviewing sales representatives, analyzing market conditions, negotiating with suppliers, analyzing quotes, selecting suppliers, creating and issuing purchase orders, resolving supplier issues, and tracking and maintaining appropriate records.
- Maintains an electronic inventory system to monitor and order inventory materials necessary to ensure supplies are available to maintain records and efficient operations.
- Ensures accurate data entry into electronic inventory system.
- Performs month-end procedures including various reports to be provided to the Accounting Department.
- Obtains material quotes on non-bid items and tracks and updates related quote spreadsheets.
- Coordinates procurement of annual bids for goods and services under $40,000. May assist with procurement of annual bids of goods and services over $40,000.
- Ensures annual bid awardees maintain compliance with, and operate in accordance with, annual bid specifications.
- Performs periodic physical inventory counts.
- Receives deliveries and ensures their accuracy and delivery to appropriate departments.
- Stocks and delivers inventory materials to appropriate locations.
- Supports and trains employees on inventory and purchasing procedures.
- Monitors scrap dumpsters and works with vendors to ensure timely disposal of scrap and submits proper paperwork to Accounting Department.
- Assists with disposal or sale of District surplus property.
- Develops and maintains vendor relationships.
- Ensures compliance of company policies, including but not limited to safety concerns and incident reporting.

- High School degree/GED.
- 2 years of District or related experience.
- Certification as a public buyer or ability to gain certification.
- Ability to obtain Powered Industrial Truck Operator Permit (Forklift) within 6 months.
- Ability to maintain effective, fair, cooperative, collaborative, and respectful relationships with internal and external colleagues, peers, work teams and workgroups.
- Knowledge of database software and spreadsheets.
- Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations governing public procurement and contracting.
- Effectively communicate, negotiate, and advocate, both orally and in writing.
- Forklift experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize appropriately.
- Must be a self-starter and able to work independently and with others.
